Patrick Mundus, ASLA, LEED AP
President

Mr. Mundus is a principal and co-founder of Mundus Bishop Design, Inc., a landscape architecture and planning firm in Denver, Colorado. His work over the last 25 years has included the design and planning of numerous public space projects throughout Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region. Pat is a graduate of Colorado State University and a past president of ASLA Colorado.

Cathe Mitchell
Vice President

Cathe worked with Jane Silverstein Ries from 1980 until 1989 and then joined with Jane and Gail Barry to establish Land Mark Design. Jane and Cathe continued to provide design for Jane’s long-time clients in addition to new work. Cathe served as president of the JSR Foundation from 2000 to 2005. In 2005, Cathe received the ASLA Medal on Jane’s behalf at the American Society of Landscape Architect Annual Meeting.

Brian Braa, ASLA, RLA, CPA
Treasurer

Mr. Braa is a Landscape Architect/Planner specializing in conservation and enhancement of special places with cultural and natural sensitivities, as well as long-term financial sustainability of projects. His work has focused primarily on national parks and other federal lands throughout the American West, and also World Heritage Sites in England and Oman. He obtained his Master of Landscape Architecture degree from Cal Poly-Pomona.

Ashley Corbett, ASLA
Secretary

Ashley is a past recipient of the JSR Foundation Scholarship and a graduate of Colorado State University. This is her first year as a board member with the JSR Foundation. She has been working as a landscape architect with studioINSITE for more than fours years working on urban outdoor spaces, mixed-use and multi-housing developments and academic campuses. She is passionate about design and the outdoor environment.

 

Kimberly Douglas, ASLA
Board Member

Ms. Douglas is a Senior Associate with studioINSITE, a landscape architecture and planning firm in Denver, Colorado. Her work over the last 10 years has focused on urban design, campus planning and design, medical campus design, and parks and trail planning projects throughout Colorado and the Midwest. Kim is a graduate of Iowa State University and the current president of ASLA Colorado. Kim has been involved with the JSR Foundation since 2003.

John M. Birkey, ASLA
Board Member

John Birkey is a Principal and Partner with the Planning and Landscape Architecture firm of Norris Design in Denver, Colorado. His focus is on landscape architecture and professional photography. He received his Masters of Landscape Architecture from the University of Colorado at Denver, College of Architecture and Planning. John is past President of ASLA Colorado and has been an active board member with the foundation since 2003.

Lori Catalano, ASLA
Board Member

Ms. Catalano is a senior instructor and associate chair with the Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Colorado Denver. Prior to teaching, her work focused on crafting built environments ranging from city parks to college campuses that educate, interpret and explore cultural and natural landscapes. Lori has a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Thomas Hawkey, ASLA
Board Member

Mr. Hawkey is a founding member of the Jane Silverstein Foundation and its first president. He recently retired from a long career with the Denver Parks and Recreation Department where he was in top management positions most of those years. Thomas has been an active member of ASLA Colorado for more than 20 years and is a past president of the chapter. He has a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Colorado.

 

 

 

Mark Tabor, ASLA
Board Member

Mr. Tabor, ASLA, is Assistant Director of Planning and Construction for Denver’s Department of Parks and Recreation. He is a former landscape architect with the National Park Service and 25 year resident of the Rocky Mountain region, Mark’s passion is the celebration and preservation of the landscapes of the West and nurturing our sustainable relationship with the land and its resources.

Jenn Thomas, BA, MLA
Board Member

Ms. Thomas is currently finishing her MLA thesis entitled “The Education of Jane Silverstein Ries at the Lowthorpe School of Landscape Architecture, 1928-1932”. She works at the Colorado Center for Community Development and the Center of Preservation Research at the College of Architecture and Planning, University of Colorado Denver. She interned at the Smithsonian Institution’s Archives of American Gardens in 2007. She is a researcher, photographer and writer.

Kurt Munding, RLA, CID, CLIA, ASLA
Board Member

Kurt Munding is an associate with Design Concepts Community and Landscape Architects.  He has over 20 years of experience in public space design, project management and construction. He has been an active member of ASLA Colorado for 10 years, is a Registered Landscape Architect in Colorado and Wyoming, and is also a Certified Irrigation Designer.  His array of projects includes parks, recreation centers, trails, churches and educational campuses.

Ian Anderson, ASLA
Board Member

Ian Anderson is a senior associate at Design Studios West, Inc., a landscape architecture and planning office in Downtown Denver. He has 10 years design experience in Chicago and Denver focused on urban design, parks and recreation and resort development throughout the Midwest and Rocky Mountain region. He is a graduate of Kansas State University and has been actively involved in ASLA Colorado.
